Melissaratos Inducted into Hall of Fame, Receives National Public Service Award


Aris Institute founder and chairman Aris Melissaratos has been elected for induction into the Maryland Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony, held at the Chamber’s 2015 annual meeting on May 5, in the Hilton Baltimore BWI Airport Hotel, Linthicum Heights, Maryland, also honors Mr Joseph Rigby, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Pepco Holdings, Inc., and (posthumously) the Honorable Wayne K Curry, late President of NAI Michael. The Hall of Fame honor is Mr Melissaratos’s second of 2015. On March 14 the national American Hellenic Institute (AHI) held its 40th Anniversary Hellenic Heritage Achievement and National Public Service Awards Dinner The Capital Hilton Hotel in Washington DC, where it honored his achievements in business and philanthropy. Anthony Quinn

The four other honorees were AHI founder Mr Gene T Rossides, the advertising art director Mr George Lois, who designed covers for Esquire magazine from 1962 to 1972, the late businessman-philanthropist Mr G Spyropoulos and the late actor Mr Anthony Quinn. Although he was born in Mexico to an Irish father and a Mexican mother, Mr Quinn immortalized the quintessentially Greek spirit when he played Zorba the Greek in the 1964 movie of that name. In 2014 Mr Melissaratos received the Commitment to Community Award,the Outstanding Director Award (for his leadership of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation), the Legacy in Leadership Award for Lifetime Achievement in support of education, and the Philanthropist of the Year Award.
